We are getting pretty excited for this years show. We have booked the venue, and set the time...(Espace Reunion, Montreal; doors at 7pm) so now our next step is to get this show organized...starting with designers! Deadline to submit applications is February 24th and we are looking forward to seeing what you have come up with this year! (There is still time for any of you out there who would like to participate!)

Please note that if we reach the maximum number of applicants we will make a selection...but it will be hard to choose, so really hoping we receive a good number of designs without having to do that!

Once we have designers under control it is time to reach out to MUAs, hairstylists, and models! So if you are interested, send us an email (at heelsandheart@gmail.com) with a link to your portfolio, or please attach photos of your work, or shots!

Tickets will be available as soon as we confirm our designers, so make sure to let everyone you know to save the date for April 7th, 2012!

Putting together ideas and pinpointing inspiration can be difficult...but we are working on it. We want to be able to give designers enough leeway with your designs, while also keeping you all on a similar track so we don't end up having an inconsistent show... good thing you are all creative in the best way, so it makes our job a little easier. Still we want to make sure you are all able to envision something without going so far out of the box that you cannot complete your design in time for the show!

Like always Alanna and I have been so busy that we haven't posted anything on here since the last show's tickets went on sale. I decided that I will try to be on top of this for 2012...let's see how that goes. Right now we are working out logistics for the next show and everything that goes with it! We have already had a few people approach us about volunteering and designing, which is AMAZING!!! As always as soon as we know when and where the show will be, you will all know too!

All this Alice in Wonderland talk has got my mind in a twist between fantasy and reality and the crazy beauty that can exist when the two collide.

Dreams and their surrealness is what, at times, keeps us going. It's an escape, a freedom, a sense of expression in its truest form. Fantasy lets us dream up these beautiful places, these unfarmiliar surroundings and unknown objects, much like the people, places and things we'd find if we ever stumbled upon Alice's Wonderland.

Fantasy, at times, has the ability to mask the grimness of reality in its own, almost poetic, way creating intrigue and desire to keep on dreaming. It leads us to believe in something a little brighter and a little more beautiful than what might really exist. So keep on dreaming, keep on creating and let the beauty of fantasy and reality drift your imagination to a whole other world. ♥

Designer deadline has been extended to January 28, 2011!

Applications and designer guidelines can be found online at www.heelsandheart.com/events. This year's theme is Alice in Wonderland and creativity will be key for this year's show. We've started receiving entries and already know this is going to be an amazing competition! The event is an great opportunity for designers to showcase their talent and gain some incredible exposure :)

Designers, designers where for out thou designers??? At least that's what is going through my mind currently!!! It's ready!!!! The designer application & guidelines for the "Wonderland" Charity Wearable Art Fashion Show 2011 are now available through heelsandheart@gmail.com. Just make sure your subject line reads designer! We are working on posting a downloadable version on our site!

Good luck to all who partake, however only the TOP 40 designs will be accepted to be part of the show! Heels & HeART along with Joshua and David from JoshuaDAVID boutique will choose the TOP 40 designers from the entries received. Creativity is a must for this show.

Wearable Art needs to be able to be worn more then once for this year's show as we are aiming on hosting a matinee dress rehearsal this year! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us! We are currently working on putting together the designer application for this year's show, just wanted to let the cat out of the bag, or in this case rabbit out of the hole...that this year's theme is:

Alice in Wonderland...but to keep from copy writing them...let's go with "In Wonderland"...

We are looking for a wide range of designs inspired but the fantasy of another world...please stay tuned for more info, and email us so we can forward you the designer application package!

What's in a name???

Everyone who has ever considered starting their own fashion line has likely brainstormed a name to call themselves, but what makes or breaks your label once you have decided on a name? What is so special about your label? What causes some labels to flop versus the labels that have crept up through time and filled your closet?? How does one reputation build while another fails? These are all questions that I have been asking myself lately... How do you choose when there are countless words in the English language, let alone when you venture into the rest of the worlds languages and dialects.

The feeling your clients get when they read your label is a portion of what is important! I mean, really, when the label is something like LA FETE (meaning "The Party" in French) www.lafetemontreal.com/ or Mojito Clothing (derived from the Cuban cocktail) http://www.mojitoclothing.com/, both Montreal fashion labels, I think about partying and having a good time! Now you tell me, if you check out both lines, although very different in design, both emit a fabulous feeling of great energy; energy definitely helps when you want to PARTY!!!

Keep in mind however, that once the client passes their initial emotional feeling about your choice of name, your label still has to survive the fit and quality of your garments! Something that I encourage: all would be designers, up and coming designers and designers with their labels out in the stores to never forget! Remember your client needs to be all too happy about their purchase from your line in order to keep coming back!!!

It's time to start blogging, or so I would think! With much time spent away from the computer in the past few months, it is now time to get on track and start writing again...or just to start writing! Inspired by a friend who shares with the world simple stories funny and dramatic of her day, just to share...I would like to share fashion moments of my day or whatever...

Halloween is fast approaching and although last year I decided to throw together a mostly unplanned get-up for the evening out on the town, this year I decided it would be much more worth the effort to PLAN AHEAD! Thus, I have already fabric shopped, and pattern drafted...I have yet to cut and sew, but believe that will be the least of my worries once I start it...but I will need to start! I think procrastination has a hold of me, but I intend to kick it's but this weekend and sew my little heart out so I can be the best....__________...ever!!! Hahaha...tricked you, I'm not giving away my fabulous character just yet!!! You will have to wait till Halloween to find that out! But let me tell you drafting on the floor in my apartment (thank goodness its hardwood) wasn't that terrible...I am still hoping to be getting a drafting table (aka: tall large table) soon. I feel like once that table arrives, my procrastination will be absolute and I will be drafting all the time...I like to think like that, truth is I know I am still to busy right now...but I am working on it! I will start drafting up crazy concoctions soon enough!!! Till then, I will settle with a self made Halloween costume, drafted on my apartment floor, and sewn at my dining room table!

Brights lights, buzzing streets, glitz & glam at every turn... what's not to love about New York City?? Promising unlimited possibilities, NYC is a great choice for a summer getaway.

To make the choice easier, here's a tip on a new hotel I came across; Ink48 - part of the Kimpton hotel group. First let me say, I'm all about boutique hotels, especially ones that offer top-notch service and swanky accomodations. Not only are they undeniably stylish but they offer a cool alternative to the big name chains. Every boutique has it's unique character, and this one is no exception! With rates starting just below $200 for rooms that you'll never want to leave, you can't go wrong with Ink48! Added bonus: Housed on the 16th floor of the hotel is Press Lounge, one of the newest & hottest rooftops in the city. Offering panoramic views of NYC, it's the perfect place to indulge in some late night drinks.

With summer FINALLY approaching, the hunt for all things entertaining OUTSIDE begins! What better way than to fiddle through the creative and unique findings of a flea market. New to Montreal this summer: Marché la Récré (Recess)!!!

The flea market will begin on June 12+13 and continue every weekend until October 16+17. On Saturdays it will be held in the Ste-Cécile schoolyard near the Jean-Talon market and, on Sundays, in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce schoolyard near the Monkland Village. 10h till 17h both days!

With the creative artisans that flood Montreal, I am sure there will be some interesting finds among the vendors! Hello world!
Heels & HeART finally did it -- we joined the uber savvy, wildly entertaining, blogging scene! After stumbling across countless addictive blogs, the type you just can't tear yourself away from, we figured the computer Gods were trying to tell us something. So with cocktail in hand and keyboard before us, we decided it was time to focus on an addictive blog of our own!

So this is our short-and-sweet intro. Fashion is our life, art is our inspiration, events are our business, and charitable causes never fail to capture our HeART.
